Maternity sessions & What to expect

Ive decided to blog a little further on our ''maternal moments & beautiful bump'' photo sessions, as these sessions more than any other fill mums to be with all sorts of questions on ''what to expect''!

Pregnancy is an amazing, & emotional time whether your a first time mum or a mum with several children! Either way those 9 months are so special with lots of milestones and special moments along the way. These are times which we are privileged to help families make memories of. Capturing photos of your '' beautiful bump'' to document your ever growing bumps beauty! Maternal moments sessions are available as a one off photo session in the later stages of pregnancy, or as part of a ''bump to baby'' series of 2-3 sessions. Which ever option you have chosen the points below will help you feel more at ease about your session, what it will entail & what to bring. Maternity photo sessions are very personal and mums often can feel quite anxious about showing off their bump or their body in general. It is quite natural to feel that way, and so below I have posted some information which I hope will help ease some of those anxieties! :) Enjoy!

What to bring?

* A scan photo

* A teddy or something you have bought for baby.

* A pair of baby booties- in either pink or blue or any unisex colour
if you are yet to find out the sex of your baby.

* A baby grow or little outfit you have ready for your little one.

* A top/dress/or outfit that shows your bump off well.

* A bold pair of earrings & a ring. This looks fantastic on the lady's who choose to do the 'demi moore' style bare bump.

* Anything else you feel you'd like to bring along.

What to expect when I arrive & throughout my session

When you arrive you will meet with myself (your photographer!). I would usually sit for a short time and discuss if there is anything you do especially want to do and what you dont want to do, and if you have any suggestions or questions you'd like to chat over before we start the session. I would then start the session usually with some more relaxed shots to begin with to allow you to get into your comfort zone :)

Frequently asked questions!

Q) Id love to have a bump session done but I'm embarrassed about my stretchmarks..can you remove them?

A) Firstly never be embarrassed about your stretch marks, most women during pregnancy will have them and this is just a sign that your body's stretching to accommodate your beautiful baby. Most women have stretch marks, even men can have stretch marks so they really are not something to be embarrassed about. Never the less, we can of course fade, soften or airbrush stretch marks away, so do not panic.

Q) Do I have to do a ''bare bump'' shot?

A) Not at all, you only have to do what ever you feel comfortable with, we can achieve equally beautiful shots with different styles and poses too.

Q) I feel so embarrassed about doing a bare bump shot, but would love that natural bare bump photo as a memory! What will help me feel less nervous about doing this?

A) Most people have something they feel self conscious about, but just remember pregnancy is beautiful & you are growing a new life, theres nothing more amazing than that. Embrace it and relax! As a mum myself I can totally understand what it is to feel self conscious of your body whilst pregnant, but you learn to embrace it and relax with it. I think for alot of mums knowing I'm a mum myself automatically makes them feel more at ease in the knowledge that i do know how pregnancy can make you feel. So just relax & embrace your pregnancy body! I am there to capture beautiful images for you, not to judge you.

Q) Can my partner and/or other children be part of the session?

A) Of course! its always important to involve siblings and/or partners where possible and I really believe a maternity photo shoot with them included really helps them feel part of it all! Whether its photos of them stood/sat with you or kissing and cuddling bump!

Q) Can we buy additional prints/canvas's/or disks once we have seen the photos if we decide we would like more?

A) Yes, you can purchase additional extras at any time. Disks from £30, £60 for UN copyright. Canvas's from £15, & additional prints from £4.

Q) What gestation do you recommend for this type of shoot to be done at?

A) Every woman is different and some women can find themselves with a very large bump quite suddenly in the second trimester, whilst other women don't begin to ''show'' until later on. So it really does depend on you and how early/late you want to leave it. Usually around 32 weeks is ideal as your not too uncomfortable, but some lady's choose to have it earlier or later dependant on how you feel & your bump size.

Q) I have some ideas and suggestions of my own, could we use some of those?

A) Most definitely! Its always lovely when families have their own ideas and suggestions, please feel free to be open and honest about any ideas you have or even any queries you may have.

If you have any further questions you feel would be appropriate to this blog post please feel free to comment with them :)

Maternal moments sessions & stretchmarks!

Lots of expectant ladys have got in touch recently about our 'maternal moments' prenatal/bump photo sessions! Which is of course fab news, theres nothing more beautiful than a baby bump! :)

Bump photography all began when 'Demi moore' posed naked with her bump & nothing but diamond earrings for 'Vanity fair' magazine in August 1991.  Since that issue came out society seemed to accept this style of photography for expectant mothers much more. It has continued with its popularity ,with more and more celebritys such as Claudia Schiffer frequently posing with their naked bump for some of the most prestigious fashion mags such as Vogue. Now in the 21st century this ever popular beautiful keepsake is becoming more popular than ever. During our MATERNAL MOMENTS sessions at Dreamscape, we always aim to make you as an individual and/or couple feel totally at ease, as these type of photos are very intimate and personal moments. We use a wide variety of natural poses to show off that beautiful bump! Often mums to be choose to involve the new babys siblings in the bump photos and dad/partner too. Where we can create some stunning shots of siblings kissing/holding 'bump', or dad/partner with his arms around bump, amongst other poses. Some ladys choose to document their pregnancy with the photos by having monthly photo sessions which document their beautiful bumps growth. Other familys decide to have just 1 session closer to the end of their pregnancy. BUT (theres always a but isnt there!) many ladys who have contacted us all have the same worry..the dreaded STRETCH MARKS! Now,  not every lady will develop stretchmarks, & for some ladys stretchmarks are simply their 'baby marks' ,a signs that their belly has had to stretch and grow to bring a little life into the world, after all were all different in our own unique ways! However for alot of women stretchmarks make them feel paranoid, body conscious & definatley not something their wanting to show to the world. Many ladys ive spoken with have said their very keen to have a maternal moments session done but are extremeley conscious of stretchmarks, scars, or the 'linea nigra' (darkened pregnancy down the tummy). So with this blog I just wanted to assure those ladys & any other ladys that it is entirley possible to remove scars, stretchmarks, scratches rash's etc! Below I have includes a before and after shot of a bump unedited showing stretchmarks and the after shot with editing. So as you can see ladys we can make your beautiful baby bump silky smooth looking if it is just those stretch marks, scars or linea lines holding you back :) Below ive also included not only the before & after images but also two icons showing you the vanity fair mag edition of demi moore and claudia schiffer showing off her baby bump in vogue! Ive also added in a couple of clients images from my maternal moments sessions.

For anyone who has stretchmarks or is pregnant and worrying about developing them try using some of the PALMERS range-very reasonable and fantastic for preventing stretchmarks as well as reducing their appearance!
I hope this blog has put any expectant ladys minds at rest that yes stretchmarks are a part of pregnancy for some ladys, & for some their totally accepting of that and why not?! pregnancy is beautiful after all, However there are some mums who dont have that level of body confidence during pregnancy and in this situation im sure a little bit of soft editing here & there will help reassure them greatly :)
Lots of lovley 'maternal moments' packages available feel free to contact me for further info :)

ASOS.COM photoshoot for IKANDI!

We recently did another shoot for IKANDI Jewellery a boutique jewellery range which always has a fab new range on offer to add a little sparkle & style to any outfit whilst keeping on trend! Take a look!- http://www.ikandi.co.uk/

The shots we did were specifically for the fashion website ASOS.COM -A renowned online fashion website selling all the latest designer jewellery, bags, dresses & more!

The location for the shoot was ''The cwrt bleddyn hotel & spa'' near usk south wales, an absolutley beautiful hotel with so much to offer wether its for a night away, weekend or for a wedding-they really are extremeley accomodating and helpful! Feel free to take a look at-  http://www.cwrtbleddyn.co.uk/

When it comes to fashion based shoots hair & makeup is key to the overall look.  The hair inspiration for the models came from the 'valentino' catwalks using french plaits & buns. The makeup inspiration was inspired by a recent prada photoshoot using smokey dark, dramatic eyes, and rich lip tones. Both the hair & makeup results were fantastic and really did complete the overall look! All jewellery was modelled by Daemonet Jordan & Angharad Williams.

We also did some shots for PERFECT DAY BRIDAL WEAR on the same day/same location- PERFECT DAY BRIDAL WEAR is fab little wedding boutique based in south wales to make use of the location. The owner Gillian is a really lovley lady who was so friendly & welcoming, id definatley recommend them highly for anyone getting married. Gillian has a fab range of wedding dresses, prom wear, bridal tiaras and accesories as well has a tailor who has numerous suits on offer for your groomsmen. Wedding wear was modelled by Daemonet Jordan & Ollie Davey.
Take a look at- http://www.perfectdaybridal.co.uk/ for their info & contact details.

Luckily the weather on the day was glorious!..even if it was a little chilly, the sun was out! Which in wales is a rare occasion!! This meant we were able to not only use the rooms throughout the hotel, but we were also able to take advantage of the stunning grounds!
We had hoped to get some shots in their gorgeous 'cwrtium spa' which is a greecian style room with a beautiful marble pillared jacuzzi, & heated pool- Unfortunetley due to how hot it was in the room the camera lense constantly steamed up, making it impossible! Lol. Never the less there were lots of fantastic areas inside and outside to make use of, and we definatley did just that!

After a 10am-6pm day of hair, makeup, wardrobe changes, shooting, & jewellery changes we finally were able to finish.
Needless to say everyone was exhausted & ready for a good sleep but the shots were definatley worth the very long day!
Better still, a couple of weeks later the completed shots were published to asos.com!
